Cake Wrecks

okay I am new to having a blog but I am not new to blogging. I have visited some very interesting book club blogs. One of my favorite blogs is cake wrecks. So in a nod to the blog I have posted my very own cake wrecks...




This is Nate's first birthday cake. He was really into lions when he was a baby. In fact at nine months he would roar if you mentioned the word lion which I thought was really cute. The cake I liked at the time, it was the first cake I had ever made and I was so proud now I just notice the little lion paws--horrible. This is Nate's 3rd birthday cake. I kept having this recurring flat tire problem.
Here we have Nate's 4th cake. He wanted a pyramid with a mummy cake. Everyone thought it was a volcano. One of my friends husbands who works in the museum at the college was very encouraging he told me that the ancient someones of such and such time period built their pyramids this way. I love him.Okay now we have the infamous Dora cake. Now I have to say when I was done with this cake I was really happy I thought it looked good. I had some minor issues with the coloring and her face was so smooth until I dropped some chocolate on it but other than that I was really excited about this cake. Until I loaded the pictures in my computer!!! My Dora just does not take a good picture.

I made this cake for my mom's 50th birthday.
So that's all the wrecks for now. There is one other wreck I have not posted, it is sooo horrible.
Ella's first cake, it was a butterfly. Everyone thought it was a giant X. That is all I have to say about it.

Nathan is officially a school kid. He stared his first day of kindergarten a couple of days ago. I did not get any pictures because it was a complete zoo. In all the madness of trying to find parking and kids running around everywhere I tell Nathan that I am going to park down the block and we will just walk to his class. That is where he tells me that it's no big deal and I should just drop him off!!! Drop him off!! He then proceeds to bail out of the car and heads for the school building. I park my car, letting all the cars behind me pile up and yell out to Nathan "do you remember your way to the classroom, do you remember your classroom number do you remember you teacher's name"? Nathan turns to me and I so wish I had my camera because the look on his face was priceless and he puts his hand out and says "mom I got it". Of course I had to make sure he made it to his classroom alright. I finally get a parking spot and I make it to the door when a mom of one of his classmates comes out and tells me Nate just walked in like he knew what he was doing and that I was so lucky that he was so outgoing and independent. I did not feel lucky I just wanted to cry that my little boy seems to need me less and less. Then today, his 3rd day of school, I unexpectedly received his tears, as I walked away he said mom I am going to be sad without you today. I was about to snatch him up and kiss his face a million times but one of his school buddies came over and off they ran leaving me standing there feeling sad without him today!

blogging

Everyone keeps telling me that I have to blog, blog, and blog. I really don't know what I am doing yet but here it goes. Some big events for us this year so far; Ella is now 2, went to California to visit Tim's brother, Nathan celebrated his 5th birthday. Family vacation to Yellowstone with Tim's brother Jon, his wife Jenny and their beautiful daughter Anna. The most truly amazing event, we now have a new nephew, baby Peter.

I have lived 3 and 1/2 hours from Yellowstone for 23 years and have never been. How crazy is that? finally took the maiden voyage to Yellowstone in August and looked at geysers and animals (no bears). It was a lot of go, go, go but so much fun. This is a huge post someday I will figure out how to do an album.

Peter

July brought us a new nephew, little Peter! Brad and Emily have given Nathan a boy cousin, up until now he has been surrounded by girls. I can not wait to get my hands on this little guy. We need to hurry up and take a trip to Seattle.so sweet
